The Appalachian Ballet Company, under the artistic direction of Amy Moore Morton, is the regional classical performing company in the greater Knoxville area since 1972. The company's season includes three productions plus smaller performances and lecture/demonstrations.
The Nutcracker is produced annually with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra for the community and over 4000 East Tennessee school children. Spring productions are with the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra, according to season schedules.
Swan Lake, Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, Coppelia, Don Quixote and The Nutcracker.
Carmen, West Side Story, The Magic Flute and Aida with the Knoxville Opera Company.
Carmina Burana, Scheherezade and the Clayton Holiday Show with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra.
The Appalachian Ballet Company was accepted into the Southeast Regional Ballet Association in 1989 and in 1992 named an Honor Company.
In 1996, 2002 and 2006, the company hosted 23 companies for the Southeast Regional Ballet Association Festival.
Over 700 dancers attended each of the 5 day festivals.
